This is a vintage Japanese porcelain vase with a soft green-to-white gradient finish, gold-tone rim, and hand-painted bird and floral motifs. Excellent vintage condition. Original Rink’s price tag intact.
The red stamp on the bottom says 明陶 (pronounced Meitō). This translates to "Mei" (bright/clear) and "Tou" (pottery/ceramics). This is a common mark found on various mid-to-late 20th-century Japanese export porcelain.
The design features a pheasants or bird-of-paradise among peonies and chrysanthemums, which are classic auspicious motifs in Japanese export porcelain.
