Fifty years of LEGO history comes together in this 1976 Universal Building Set #111. The colorful original box captures an era when LEGO encouraged builders to turn the same basic bricks into cars, buildings, airplanes, and whatever else they could imagine. This example retains the original box and inner tray along with approximately 45 vintage pieces, giving it considerably more display character than a loose assortment of old bricks. Although incomplete, it offers useful period pieces for restoration and an authentic package for collectors of early LEGO sets. The instructions may have suggested what to build, but 1970s LEGO still expected imagination to do most of the work.
