This beautiful vintage display piece depicts the legendary young hero Minamoto no Yoshitsune (also known as Ushiwakamaru) in a dramatic scene at the famous Gojo Bridge in Kyoto. Traditionally displayed for Tango no Sekku (Boy's Day), this doll represents courage, agility, and the noble spirit of the samurai.

Artisan Craftsmanship: The face and hands are finished in traditional Gofun (crushed oyster shell paste), giving the skin a smooth, matte porcelain-like appearance.
Detailed Armor: The figure wears a high-ranking O-yoroi style suit of armor featuring metallic silver and gold plates with intricate orange and cream silk lacing.
Symbolic Scenery: The figure is set against a shimmering gold-leaf background and includes a symbolic Willow Tree and a traditional Giboshi bridge post finial.
Traditional Materials: Mounted on a natural Kiri (Paulownia) wood base and housed in its original wooden and glass display case.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition for its age. The Gofun finish is well-preserved with sharp hand-painted facial details. The silk lacing is intact and vibrant. There is minor thinning to the hair and light aging to the metallic paper armor, which is consistent with mid-20th-century Showa-era pieces.
